No it's not normal, it's a bug (memory leak) which is fixed by patch PHSS_21045.

I had this problem with several servers when I applied the June 2000 Diagnostics and Patch Bundle.

Hope this helps,
John

Hello:

When I run a "ps -elf" command I noticed that the /usr/sbin/mib2agt is consuming almost 300 mb of memory. This is on a k580, 3gb ram, 11.0 system. To compare the size, I checked the /usr/sbin/mib2agt on our k400, 11.0, 1.5 mb system. It showed as 356 kb of memory used. Does know if this is normal for the k580 system?

300MB seems way out of proportion for an snmp agent. Take a look at the syslog.log file to see if there is anything there relating to it.

Sorry,

That patch is PHSS_21046 for HP-UX 11.00. 21045 is for 10.20.

Regards,
John
