I have two HP UX 11 platforms running MC SG version A.11.09 and have been informed that this version of SG is no longer supported. I just want confirmation of this ? If this is the case when did this come into effect ? Also if anyone could let me know what is the latest version of SG in the event of having to upgrade.

Many Thanks.

Hi,

Yes. A.11.09 will be discontinued as of end of year 2003. A.11.14 has been found stable and is the recommended version for the conservative users. A.11.15 was just released in June 2003.

Look at the following document for more information.

http://www.software.hp.com/RELEASES-MEDIA/proginfo/SGSupportLetter.htm

-Sri

The latest release is A.11.15 but I believe it is a feature release for 11.11 (June 2003) as it is the first version of ServiceGuard that is supported on both IA64 and PA. I have not seen that version released for 11.00.

You say you are running 11.00. I would suggest you upgrade to A.11.14 and apply patch PHSS_29122. Read the "Rolling Software Upgrades" section of the Managing MC/Service Guard manual for A.11.14 available from docs.hp.com.

MCSG A.11.09 will end support as of 31 December 2003.

FYI, A.11.14 will end support 31 March 2006.

Hope it helps.

Tim.

Sridhar's link to the customer-viewable letter just what you need.

Per that letter, 11.09 becomes "unsupported" on December 31, 2003.

In this case, "unsupported" means that HP will no longer patch that version should users discover a new bug with it. The Response Centers will still render aid in resolving cluster and package problems even when 11.09 is involved. However, when a newer version provides a remedy for a problem involving 11.09, the RC will recommend updating the software rather than pushing the lab for a fix.

Stephen Doud
HP Response Center
