Package AUTO_RUN disabled?

Hi:

What does this mean? I have the package running in this single node cluster. no problems. but cmviewcl says AUTO_RUN disabled. I know that i can do cmmodpkg -e and it would be enabled. But i wanted to know what it does actually. And what would be the impact to run it in disabled mode. These servers are production. Please help.

Hi Brian,

I think the AUTO_RUN flag tells MC/SG to try to start the package on its adoptive node when MC/SG starts. If you have this flag on in a package, and you have MC/SG starting at boot, the package will be started when MC/SG comes up.

I like to leave all the AUTO_RUN flags off as I don't like the packages trying to start when I'm bringing up the cluster manually.

AUTO_RUN is used to define:
a) what the package does at cluster startup, i.e. start automatically or not
b) once running, if it fails whether it will switch to an alternate node or not. This is also referred to as Global Switching Parameter,.

Hi

When auto_run is disable the package will not switch to other nodes if the primary one fails (this is not your case, as you only have one node) and will not start automatically when cluster forms. You can change it using the cmmodpkg command. What offen happens, is that when you stop mannually one node (not the cluster), auto_run changes to disable. In your case you don't need to do anything...
