hi everyone,

i just want to check that if i want to add an existing S/G node to a package, i need cmapplyconf (after a cmcheckconf). But what i want to know is:
do i have to have;
a) the cluster down
b) the package down
c) the node down
OR
d) none, it can re-apply and re-distribute with everything up. Otherwise is there a document i can check which details which operations require which actions.

thanks,

mark.

Well the documentation at http://docs/hp.com/hpux/ha has the Managing MC/ServiceGuard manual, and in there is a table showing what can be done online or offline
But in short, provided you have done the upfront work of ensuring the vg has been shared, and anything else, hten this can be done wiht the package on line.

i have 15 independant packages in the cluster.
if i were to cmapplyconf on one. if the cmapplyconf has problems, could this cause any of the other packages in the cluster to stop or misbehave

No it should not.
Out of interest, which Sg version and which SG patch have you got?
what /usr/lbin/cmcld is the quickest way to check.
