As Dietmar has said, you have the general idea correct. I would also recommend you read the manuals, and would suggets you rather go for a Quorum server rather than 2 cluster lock discs.
Hello,

My MC/SG II (may 13-15) class got canceled and I need some answer quick for "Campus Cluster" implementation.

We have one RP7410 fiber connected to 2 Brocade switch (3800 16-port) which in turn connect to a VA7410.

We have an identical system in a different building; the 2 sets of Brocade switches are communicating via 2G long distance GBICs; Either system can do an IOSCAN and see all the LUNs from either VA.

My question for setting up a 2 node campus cluster, is it simply define 2 LUNs (one from each VA), one primary, one mirror within the same Volume Group.
Create LVs on Primary and mirror to the second LUN and let LVM take care of sync-ing of data ?

On the surface, it is a simple 2 node cluster sharing 2 LUNs, the only difference for campus cluster is: the 2 LUNs existed in 2 separate VA in 2 separate buildings.

Am I right ?

Thanks!

-JK

Hi, Johnny!

You're quite right. Essentially a Campus Cluster is a normal ServiceGuard cluster using LVM Mirrors for data replication.

You need to take care how to implement arbitration. Classical Campus Clusters use dual cluster lock disks. However could also use a Quorum Server or an Arbitrator.

See chapter "Building an Extended Distance Cluster Using MC/ServiceGuard" of http://docs.hp.com/hpux/pdf/B7660-90013.pdf

Best regards...
Dietmar.
