Thanks for the responses, network cards are not a problem. I will have to checkout the license issue. D/K boxes are too large/power hungry, we have 3 K's we are shipping offsite next month, we need the space for newer machines, money is always an issue too. Thanks anyway.
Hi,
I'm considering running serviceguard on two old workstations as a crash 'n burn environment. They are a C100 and a C110. I know they wounldn't be 'supported' but my key question is does it actually work on S700's?

I have/can run either 32bit 11.00 or 11i, I think I need to buy a SCSI FWD card for one of them since I don't think I can change the SCSI host bus adaptor ID from 7 to 8 on one of the built in SCSI adaptors, can anyone confirm that I can't change it?

A4107A looks like a candidate for a replacement scsi card, I can't find it confirmed that it is differential Scsi but I think they all are, are there others I can look at instead? Can I still buy these or is it Ebay time?

We already have the in-line terminator cables.

Memory amount shouldn't be a problem. Can anyone think of any other problems with this?

Thanks in advance.
dave
Replying to my own post:

I found another post about this, it might work, Scsi id's are a problem.

My questions around additional scsi card's still stand.

TIA

Hi Dave,

Beside your SCSI question I defintly make sure you have enough lan-interfaces. A standard WS has only one :)
Maybe using the AUI interface could help you out or buying a SCSI-card with a Lan-interface included.

Best Regs
David

Hi Dave,

ServiceGuard requires a codeword to install. Codewords are keyed to specific identifiers on the unit and are provided after the product license is purchased. Getting a license to operate ServiceGuard on a workstation may be a challenge since it is not intended to operate on workstations.

-something to consider

Stephen Doud
Hi Dave,

I agree with Stephen. MC/SG is not supported on 700 series (i.e. workstation) systems.
I'd look to find some old used D or K class systems on e-bay or from a reseller. Should be able to get them relatively cheaply.

Rgds,
Jeff

If they are still around, consider A500 servers - I think they are 3-4U high each and support SG.

-S.
