Hi all,

we are running mc/sg A.11.09 on our hp boxes with the HA option and have couple of oracle databases which are being monitored. I would really appericate if anyone could give me a pointer to a nice documentation as to how these work. I ran through few files like cluster.CONF, pkg.conf, pkg.ctl but like to know more info.

thanks!
stan

Hi Stan,
As you'll read through the information Michael pointed you to, you'll notice that this is NOT easy material. I'm 80% selftaught (and mostly by reading / rereading the manuals myself), but "Hands On with MC/ServiceGuard" is one HP training you really should take. I have been doing the troubleshooting for clusters (we've got 150 - and counting - of 2-node clusters) for about a year now, but only after the training (after 9 months ... typical ;-) I really had an idea about what I was doing.

Just my humble opinion off course ;-)
Regards,
Tom

Hi,

I had a book - Clusters for High Availability by Peter Weygant, which explains the concepts of high availability.
The Hands-on with MC/ServiceGuard is a very good course, and will give you more info on how ServiceGuard works & how to configure clusters. I would definitely recommend it.

Regards,

Hilary

docs.hp.com has all the HA documentation . If you are specifically looking at monitoring databases in a SG environment , then also take a look at the documentation for ECM ( Enterprise Cluster Master Toolkit ).

Hi Stan,

Try this cookbook from itrc,

http://us-support2.external.hp.com/iv/data/documents/DE_SW_UX_swrec_EN_01_E/ServiceGuard.pdf

This will help you in understanding and troubleshooting your SG problems.

Hope this helps.

Regds
