Two Clusters One Subnet?

I am sorry if this is in the documentation or FAQ somewhere...

Can two different clusters use the same subnet or does this cause problems (other then increased traffic on the subnet?).

There shouldn't be a problem using the same subnet. We've got 2 clusters on 1 subnet and have no problems with them.

Hi Justin,

No, you could have as many clusters in a subnet as address space would allow. My caveat would be to watch the traffic load & I would recommend that the heartbeats be on another subnet, better yet a private net. Wouldn't want a pkg switch due solely to a saturated network.

I was planning on have two heartbeats, one over a private network and one over the subnet of both clusters. I think this would be enough don't you?

Yes, two should always be the rule of clusters.
Just keep an eye out in the logs for missed heartbeats on the public net as a sign of net saturation.
