for java sdk you only need to install one bundle. you won't need to seperately install the re bundle as, as you've mentioned it's delivered in the sdk. You should however, refer to the Java release notes carefully as you will need OS prerequisites before installing the sdk itself.. this could be patches and/or kernel parameter tuning.

All should be well documented at http://www.hp.com/go/java

good luck,
Bill

Hi Jerry,

Nope, the SDK(JDK) is a superset of the JRE.
You usually only need the SDK if you need some of the specialized lib files it contains that the JRE does not.

As a rule we do *not* allow compilers or most any development tools on production systems. The developers must link/compile there stuff to include the libs/tools their code will need.
IMHO you really don't want publicly available tools on prod systems that people could dink around with.

Rgds,
Jeff
Jeff

Do carefully follow the patch guidelines prior to installting java SDK. http://www.hp.com/go/java

After years of handing out this device, I must reinterate. I currently have a system being eaten alive by java. It has to be a patching problem. Don't go through the pain I'm currently experiencing. Install every patch they call for.

SEP
