None of those issues are woth thinking about IMHO. The kernel builds perfectly with the ANSI-C compiler.

Many have walked that path before you, and none of those have had kernel build problems with ANSI C.

After you've installed ANSI C, you don't even /want/ the braindead crippled bundled C compiler around anymore. You'll be glad it's gone.

Hi,
I would like to install the Ansi C compiler. But before installing the patch, I have the following questions:

My system has theHP Bundled C compiler. The /usr/local/bin/cc is linked to usr/ccs/bin/cc_bundled.

The cc_bundled is used by the system for rebuilding the kernel is case of any changes.

By installing the Ansi C compiler, the /usr/local/bin/cc should be linked to /opt/ansic/bin/cc

Question 1:
What happens to the first binary cc link ?

Question 2:
If the cc will be linked to /opt/ansic/bin/cc, what are the consequences in case of a rebuilding of the kernel?
OS: HP-UX 11.0

Thanks for your help

Narimane

Hi,

If the links you mention are a result
of a normal install, insalling the optional
Ansi C compiler will give you no problem
with kernel-build.
You do not have to worry about the links.

Installing a Ansi C compiler on top of the
bundled is a straight forward swinstall
job with not special tricks needed

Regards
Olav
