I'm attempting to run an application written in Java on my d350 (single 100mz processor, 448mb memory). Running a VERY simple java script (prints 'hello' to screen) pins the CPU at 100%. And running the forementioned application software pins the CPU for an extended time.
I have installed all recommended patches and tuned kernel parameters, all to no avail.
I'm thinking that this system is too small -- at least cpu-wise -- do deal with the overhead that Java creates.
What say you guys?
In appreciation,
Brad

Hi Brad,

It Could be the system is too small.... A D350
will only run a 32 bit operating system. Are
there any applications sharing the system?
Sometimes sharing a system can bring you
extremely bad news performance wise.

See the link which provides a chart to 32
and 64 bit Operating systems.

http://devresource.hp.com/STK/serversupport.html

-Michael

I'm running 11.0 and, of course, it is in 32-bit mode.
This is an R&D machine and there are no users' processes except me!

Now as for the A-class, N-class, and rp8400's, they kick butt!

live free or die
harry

Thanks for that Harry; I'm looking at the RP5430 to replace my k-420 production machine.
I think I'm going to stop trying to force the d350 to do things that is was not designed to.

Thanks all for your continuing help,
Brad
