We are using Samba 2.2.4 with winbindd in our enviornemt. The Samba software works great, but now the passwd command has stopped working ever since we put winbind in our /etc/nsswitch.conf files:

# passwd
Supported configurations for passwd management are as follows:
passwd: files
passwd: files ldap
passwd: files nis
passwd: files nisplus
passwd: compat
passwd: compat AND
passwd_compat: nisplus

It seems some libraries don't know about winbind. Anyone know a way around this issue? Thanks.

Unfortunately, this deals with a RedHat 7.1 system and most of the changes aren't applicable. I have winbind working in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file, but HP-UX doesn't seem to recognize it as a valid type.
