The version in the archive is for HPUX 9. I notice that imake is provided with the Ansi C bundle and the HPUX Developer's Kit. Does this mean that it is now a purchaseable option only?

The imake delivered with the Developer's Kit has had the templates adjusted to match the layout of the HPUX filesystem. You can use any imake you want, but this one is a bit more convenient. You'll also want the dev kit for the header files (.h) for the various subsystems, such as Xlib, Motif, CDE, ect.
