Dear all,

Please let me know what is the best device for interconnect between 2 nodes 10g RAC cluster using Oracle cluster.
i am using 1 Gigabit switch now. are there any better devices for this job.

Thanks in advance.
Tom

The working assumption should be that Gigabit is just fine, until proven inadequate for your specific usage.

100Mb is too slow in response time, even though the bandwith may be enough for your needs.

10Gbe seems not to be warranted too often, and might be too early in its lifecycle still.

A while back HyperFabric seems the way to go, but I haven't heard much about it any more. I believe is was only supported for 9i, not 10g.
It was used (with 10g!) in a clustered TPC-H benchmark back in 2004:
ttp://www.tpc.org/tpch/results/tpch_result_detail.asp?id=104100701

No recent tpc-c or sap benchmark hpux rac numbers.

http://docs.hp.com/en/J6376-90006/J6376-90006.pdf

Early (Windoze) test with Infiniband were very promissing. Very low system time... direct user-user process communication. But that did not happen for hpux did it?
http://h71019.www7.hp.com/ActiveAnswers/downloads/HPInfiniBandSolution_OracleRAC.pdf

http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/power/ps2q07-20070279-Mahmood.pdf

http://docs.hp.com/en/8831/10gRAC
http://media.techtarget.com/searchOracle/downloads/grid_excerpt_2.pdf

Hope this helps some,
Hein van den Heuvel (at gmail dot com)
HvdH Performance Consulting

r u talking about "Cluster Ready Service". We use GB lans on 10g rac CRS cluster. But uses Hyper fabric switches on MCS RAC cluster.

Also uses APA on both the cases where ever required.
