Sorry Greg, that is my mistake. Let me clarify. I am talking about Veritas Storage Foundation (for Oracle). It implies many of other Veritas' products:

VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM)
VERITAS Database FlashSnap
VERITAS Storage Mapping
VERITAS Database FlashSnap
VERITAS Storage Mapping
VERITAS File System (VxFS)
VERITAS Quick I/O
VERITAS Cached Quick I/O
VERITAS Extension for Oracle Disk Manager
VERITAS VxDBA Menu Utility
VERITAS Enterprise Administrator
VERITAS NetBackup for Oracle Advanced BLI Agent (optional)

I have found that in most of the documentation they are referred as VxFS or VxVM/VxFS... I assumed that is a standard.

Regards

HH
There is a plan to install Oracle RAC and one of the main futures of it is to use the concurrent I/O capability. In order to accomplished that we want to use VxFS version 5.

I have problems to find out information of VxFS version 5 on HP-UX 11i v3. I know that it is not supported on initial release, but will it be supported on update 1 ? If not…. When is going to be supported ?

Will VxFS version 5 be included on HP-UX 11i v3 or have to be purchased from symantec?

Thanks in advance

HH

Shalom,

Support Matrix:

http://www.hp.com/softwarereleases/releases-media2/latest/06_07/06_07_sersm.htm

http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=EnableVxFS

Feature list:
http://www.hp.com/softwarereleases/releases-media2/media/5013-8315.htm
Seems from here 4.1 is the base vxfs install.

Performance cookbook
http://vgwh5proc.cce.hp.com/portal/download/files/unprot/devresource/Docs/TechPapers/UXPerfCookBook.pdf

Conclusion.

It is not included in the base release, that much I am somewhat certain of.

As to the second question, http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=EnableVxFS
The link above enables xvfs v5 on 11.23. That would lead me to believe vxfs v5 functionality will be coming, probably from HP.

Though I'd make sure its on Oracle's support matrix prior to even thinking about it.

SEP

to answer your second question, it will come from HP, so no need to go to Symantec to get it.
As to when, I think it will be within the next few months, possibly by March 2008, but I do not have a confirmed date as yet
The most recent information regarding my original question is on this manual:

http://docs.hp.com/en/B3935-90096/index.html

One important thing is that Veritas Storage Fondation version 5.0 is not supported in HP-UX 11i v3... IT WILL BE SUPPORTED, but there is not a clear date.
