Thanks for the quick replies!

Alex pointed me in the right direction. It's a combination of disabling the local Xserver by commenting out this line in /etc/dt/config/Xservers:

* Local local@console /usr/bin/X11/X :0

before I can execute the command "/sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc start". Otherwise I'll be getting incessant beeps from the server

Hi,

I have a HP-UX server running without keyboard/mouse/monitor so I can't have CDE running on it. I'm wondering if there's any chance of getting a CDE on my Windows PC using Reflection X by way of XDMCP direct connection to this headless server?

Yes, you can, if CDE on hpux is started.

See /etc/rc.log:

Start CDE login server
Output from "/sbin/rc3.d/S990dtlogin.rc start"

Fat

Yes every chance.

nb you will need dtlogin running locally on the server but I suspect this is the case, having no mouse etc will only affect the local console (which you don't have), regardless on a server the Xserver file is most likey commented out by default.

Only other thing to ensure is hostname resolution works between PC and server.

Freddie,

CDE is very sensitive without mouse or keyboard.

It will not work.

WK
