Hi,
I have a hpux 11.11 box. (Secure_Shell A.04.30.006).It is newly installed machine. From other hpux to this machine, ssh is working fine.from windows machine i was trying to ssh the hpux machine thru Putty.But after giving the username and passwd it was not geting connected, simply the window is getting closed.But if i give wrong passwd it again ask for for passwd. that time if i give orginal passwd it is getting connected.I don't know where i made mistake.How to solve the issue?

regards,
shanmugam.
Shalom,

The log shows an authentication failure. Usually typing in a bad password causes this. There could be problems with the pam authentication library.

Could be a problem with the windows client. Note that the username from a windows box will default to the windows user. To override this behavior ssh user@hpuxbox

You seem to have a critical hardware message in the log. I'd do what the log recommends and check that, though its not related to this issue.

SEP

Hi,

Just a thought:
I checked the log.
===
70 port 2646 ssh2

Mar 21 12:08:14 hpux-02 sshd[3954]: Accepted keyboard-interactive/pam for root f

Mar 21 12:08:14 hpux-02 sshd[3954]: Accepted keyboard-interactive/pam for root f
rom 10.218.105.16 port 33393
===

From putty did you specify the correct port no whey you use ssh. Looks like you are not using the default port no. for ssh.

Regards,
Rasheed Tamton.
