Hi Danny:

That's still going to cover a rather broad set of components as you can see if you use a Patch Database search string of "NIS+".

I think you would be best to install a current Quality Pack (QPK). June 2005 is the most recent available and can be downloaded from the ITRC Patch Database.

Regards!

...JRF...

Go to itrc.hp.com and look under patch/firmware database. Since you didn't bother to identify your OS, it's difficult to be specific.

I also wanted to mention that "latest" patch is not usually what you want to install. As was already alluded to, the Quality Pack contains a set of well-tested patches that meet a set of quality criteria. Beyond that, you should install patches for specific reasons (e.g. security bulletins or specific defects that you think you might run into)

There are several other platforms that imply that if it's a patch, you should install it because it fixes a defect. This is fine for test systems or workstations, but for a production system, all change implies additional risk, which includes the possibility of adding additional defects.

As to your specific question, the itrc patch database is your best bet. It will tell you the latest patch as well as the recommended patch, along with the recommended dependencies.

Hope that helps.

-Keith
