HP's Apache B.2.0.58.00
in apache's error.log I get "File does not exist: /opt/hpws/apache/htdocs/itassistant."
There is no such file on the system.
This is a fresh default install of HPUx 11.31 (IA64).

What is this file and how to I fix this error?

Why create an empty file? Where is this URL being called and what should the file have?

Hm, was not clear enough?

If I point my browser to your server to a file that does not exist - you will exactly get this message in your log: file not exists.
At the same time I get error 404 - file not found in my browsers window.

Somebody requested this URL from your server!

This is not a problem!

This error gets created on initial system boot in the apache log file. No one is trying to access the URL.

am I missing something?

OK, check this:

open the log files

tail -f /opt/hpws/apache/logs/access_log
and
tail -f /opt/hpws/apache/logs/error_log
each in a terminal.

Now point your browser to this non-existant URL.

You will see the clients IP in the access_log, the file not found message in error_log.
May be somebody else (a robot?) is accessing this URL. You will see this in the access_log.

It is as Torsten wrote.
Someone/thing is simply requesting a non-exsitent URL.
How is your apache webserver started?
Maybe via the notorious apachectl script?
Perhaps, a get request for /itassistant was planted there somewhere in the startup procedure?
Or maybe you are running any of the dozens Apache frameworks that run other startup procedures.
You ought to check each of them to discover where the get request for itassistant is issued.
