    <description>As said above, to disable from the ftp client, use pass command, to disable from FTP server, see man ftpaccess, pasv-allow.</description>

      <description>I believe that passive if off by default. but&lt;BR /&gt;you would type the word passive.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# ftp&lt;BR /&gt;ftp&amp;gt; passive&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;By tyoing passive it will turn the mode off or on.</description>

      <description>According to the ftp man page passive is off by default.  I can't remember off the top of my head but there is a config file you should be able to specify this in /etc/default/ftpd or something like that.  If I can remember I'll let you know.</description>
