Hello, I have questions regarding two seperate entries appearing in syslog on a HP-UX 11.23 and HP-UX 11.11 server.

On the HP-UX 11.23 server, the following messages are periodically written to syslog:

Jul 20 12:20:10 /usr/dt/bin/rpc.ttdbserver[25818]: NetISAM: read failed
Jul 20 12:20:10 NetISAM[25818]: Fatal error: read failed - UNIX errno 17
Jul 20 12:20:10 inetd[1108]: rpc.ttdbserver/tcp: Exit status 1
Jul 20 12:20:10 inetd[1108]: getsockname() failed for rpc.ttdbserver/tcp errno(216),Deleting Service

On the HP-UX 11.11 server, the following was written to syslog:

Jul 18 09:39:46 vmunix: NOTICE: KRPC: record fragment from client of size(32116) exceeds maximum (9000). Disconnecting
Jul 18 09:39:46 vmunix: NOTICE: KRPC: record fragment from client of size(16868) exceeds maximum (9000). Disconnecting

What exactly is the cause of these entries?

I did find a few threads on these messages but nothing really helpful.

Is anyone familiar with these two and what if any actions should be taken to address them?

Both of these systems seem to be running normally.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Tom Wolf
