Hardware - L1000 11.0 HP-UX OS
I cleaned up the passwd and grp files and was able to get all systems trusted except this one.
I get the following error - the truly bizarre thing is I deleted the sna user out of the passwd file - and it still shows up when I try to convert. Is something cached? Is is possible I am point to other than /etc/passwd somehow? HELP and THANKS!:
processing user noaspen
processing user sna
processing user usr/bin
tsconvert: dopswd: putprpwnam(usr/bin) failed
Can't write protected database;
password file unchanged.
Entering rmpdirs, directory = /tcb.
Leaving rmpdirs.
tsconvert: main: dopswd() failed

Hi,

two questions, is your system an upgrade from 10.20 ? and could you check your /etc/passwd for a usr/bin typo (maybe it should be /usr/bin)?

Regards,
Robert-Jan

System was cold installed with 11.0 OS and I do not see the usr/bin user in the password file. Since the sna line in the password file was right before the usr/bin failed error, I deleted the sna line out of the password file - reran pwck (came back clean) - and tried to convert again. What I do not understand is that the sna line STILL continues to show as if it is still in the password file.

SAM gives exact same error - no hash marks in the passwd file.
