I was thinking of installing HP's IDS. It got a negative reaction from a colleague. I am looking for opinions and suggestions with pros and cons.

Is your colleague is an expert on Hp-ux and security? Are their opinions based on prior releases? Something is better than nothing!

I currently don't use IDS, but I would if I needed to.

I guess I would consider this colleague to be experienced. Expert is a high honor which I reserve.

I do agree with you Harry--something is better than nothing.

Please list your colleague's concerns and your requirements for a HIDS solution and I can try to address them. The effectiveness of any product depends on what problem(s) you are attempting to address.
