Hi,

Does any body have a sample of login script that could be used for maping users directories from SAMBA (smb.conf) on a HP-UH11i. Users are login from Windows2000 Professional.

Hi,

If I understand your question, Windows 2000 users will be mapping shares on an 11i box via Samba. If so, they shouldn't need a login script. I've always just had them define the shares in Windows Explorer and check the box that says to reconnect at login. It should work just like mapping any other share in Windows.

JP
Thank you for your responed.
What about authentication?
I can't go to every workstation to add the maping on the forst place. I still think that I will need some type of login script.
Maybe .bat file with NETUSE comands.

Miro

Hi,

If you authenticate using your PDC then your users won't need to type in their passwords. The other option is to use net use, but I guess that'll mean you have to hardcode passwords into the script.

Take a read of the CIFS server documentation at http://docs.hp.com for info on the different security levels; server or domain level both allow you to use a PDC for authentication.

regards,

Darren.

In order to process login scripts from Samba, you would have to setup your HP-UX server as a Domain Controller (at least I think so) - not too sure if you really want to do that...

http://us1.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/htmldocs/Samba-PDC-HOWTO.html

Rgds...Geoff
