They should be. The applications should then be using appropriate calls to get passwords.

In trusted environment they should be doing gettwent calls.

Anil

Oracle database server and application server are not impacted.

Thats because i run both on a trusted system and know they don't rely on the OS for authentication.

All you need to do to complete your research is read the authentication documentation on each product.

I do not believe that any of the aforementioned products will care whether your system is trusted or not.

SEP
Jerusalem
3 years of Trusted System experience.

In a trusted environment, the call to get the password changes to getprpwent. Not all 3rd party applications use this call, hence stop working. Only applications that use authentication are affected.

To be real honest, I think it will be a case of try it and see. Time to use your test systems if you have them! Although some of the big 3rd party vendors may have catered for an HP-UX trusted system, many of the smaller vendors haven't (either due to lack of demand, or lack of knowledge about HP trusted systems).

I remember it was a nightmare the times I've tried to convert systems to trusted. It broke alot of stuff we hadn't even considered.

Do it with caution.

Col.

First find out from the software vendor if the it runs with a trusted system. Second use a test system to do your testing on with it. There are plenty of applications that do cause problems turning trusted on.
