Hi,

try to open the directories via the command
/usr/dt/bin/dtfile -standalone ...

after having mounted the CD and check, if you get better results. dtfile creates a daemon process, which may have problems to get rid of cached data (just a guess).

mfG Peter

Hi, I have a problem with the CDE File manager. I mounted a cd that has a patch on it in /dvdrom. I create a directory /opt/hp_patches, and copy the file hp_patch.tar to that directory

#cp hp_patch.tar /opt/hp_patches

when I go to that directory in the terminal I can see the contents using an ls. But when I click on the directory using the File Manager I get the error: "Error Reading /opt/hp_patches."

Also when I click on the directory /dvdrom "the mounted cd" It just gets stuck on "Reading" and never shows the contents. Why do these files appear in the terminal but not the file manager? Thanks

Shalom,

Look for inconsistencies in ownership and permissions.

Also note that the environment of a CDE session is not the same as an ssh or telnet login.

SEP

Being relatively new to UNIX, what is the best way to check permissions. Also I am running a terminal within the CDE session, so its not a seperate telnet one.
