I currently have a project to add login banners to all my HPUX systems. I am looking for some sample login banners that warn about unauthorized access and the whole bit. Thanks in Advance.

I have an example from my box in /etc/issue:

This is a classified system.
By accessing this system, yor are consenting to system monitoring for law enforcement purposes. Unauthorized access or use may suject you to criminal prosecution and penalties.

hi,

this is my 2 cents ..
"This private network of computers is protected by a corporate defined security system. Criminal law prohibits unauthorized access. Violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

You can set these in /etc/motd file.

can result in disciplinary action or criminal prosecution.

A key here is NEVER EVER disclose the company name NOR the function of the system in any banner.

Unauthorized access to this computer system and software is prohibited by Title 18, United States Code, Section 1030, Fraud and Related Activity in Connection with Computers.

This system is for the use of authorized users only. Individuals using this computer system without authority, or in excess of their authority, are subject to having all of their activities on this system monitored and recorded by system personnel.

In the course of monitoring individuals improperly using this system, or in the case of system maintenance, the activities of authorized users may also be monitored.

Anyone using this system expressly consents to such monitoring and is advised that if such monitoring reveals possible evidence of criminal activity, system personnel may provide the evidence of such monitoring to law enforcement officials.
