Changing Root password

I have a D system running 11.0 in trusted mode. I need to change the root password because the DBA used to do the administration also and knows the password. I have tried looking every where but cannot find this one thing. Thanks for your help in advance.

You will need to know the root password in order to change it.

login as root and then enter the command:

# passwd

follow the prompts.

Actually that ended up being a stupid question. I had tried the passwd command unsuccessfully but then after reading the reply I realized that when I converted to the trusted system it ignored the last letter of my long password. Once I left that off it changed quite easily. Thanks
