I don't remember the root password and my system ( HP-UX 11.0 ) is with trusted system,

How I change the password ??

Hi,

I never tested it but it should work :

- Boot to single user mode
- mount -a
- /usr/lbin/tsconvert -r (revert to a non-trusted system)
- Edit /etc/passwd to remove root's encrypted password
- passwd (set a new password)
- /usr/lbin/tsconvert (return to trusted system).

I have had some luck with this method.
Go into sam and users. Select user, right click and select password reset. For me this assigned a new password without knowing the old one. I then went to password modify and changed it to what I wanted the password to be.
I have found that trusted systems password requirements are not always consistent. Sometimes methods such as this work and other times they still require the old passwd.

I believe the doc that was referred to not available.

Try the above answers and if they do not work because you need a single user mode passwd then I suggest logging a case to HP so they can verify you as a valid ROOT user and then send you the needed information.
