Make sure the hostname is correct
and an absolute pathname is specified (beginning with "/").

I am sure that hostname is ok (it is in hosts file)...It doesn´t let me to change the source, which it´s none, it shows me previus message without let type anything...

any ideas?
Shalom,

/sbin/init.d/swagentd -r

MAke sure the process is running.

swinstall /cdrom/Ignite-UX-11-11 \*

You need to tell it what to install, which in this case would be everything.

SEP

Hi:

Instead of taking a potentially dated version of Ignite from your CD collection, I suggest you download and install a current one:

http://www.docs.hp.com/en/IUX/

Regards!

...JRF...

Hi,

I would download the latest version of Ignite, as this will allow you to take advantage of SSH functionality.

Regards,
Berd

when swinstall asks for a target location it either means the target is already in use ( i.e. another swinstall process has it locked ), the hostname and IP for this server is goofed up as in swinstall cannot connect to itself, or swagentd is confused.

check for other swinstall or swagent procesess.
check hostname and IP are correct
recycle swagentd ( kill swagentd and restart with swagentd -r )

Double check the /var/adm/sw sw*.log files. It may lead you in the right direction.

CA1450370,

Check your hostname is correctly defined in all the places. If you changed the hostname from command prompt make sure it is reflecting in all the files, better use:
# set_parms hostname , and from the menu choose the option to chage the hostname, you may need a reboot to make the change effective.

From swinstall it's straight forward to install using the cdrom.

Else
- find out the device file,
- mount it in a directory,
- Install the desired sw with swinstall,

Cheers,
Raj.
