Unless the system administrator was diligent in setting the service processorlogin and password, the answer is: press return twice (null login and password). It would be wise the to set a login and password since open access to this port can be used to turn off the computer or to crash the machine and force a memory dump.

I've "inherited" 3 HP-UX 11 servers. I need to open the remote consoles ( they are physically far from me) but I know only the ports to login. How can I get the configuration of this consoles, I mean the user I must write when the system put " "Service Processor login:". Can I see it in any "SAM" option?

Shalom,

It depends on the model.

use the model command

look them up in http://docs.hp.com

Then you will see what kind of console it is.

Many A Class systems for example and rp24xx after them use a lan console that you telnet into.

SEP

It can even be so simple as leaving the user and password empty thus twice 'enter' and you could be in..
Saw this many times on highly secure systems...

Hi,
the servers' model are:2 9000/800/L2000-44 and 1 9000/800/rp3440.

All of them has a user called adm, I guest that was the user to log in the console, but I can not. That is the reason of my question. May reset the old condition and define new ones or any other workorund to reset any ols console configuration adn define new ones?

Sorry for the delay. Until I know: I must login via telnet to the servers. I have check the empty option ( user and password), one curious "adm" user( resetting the password) and root , of course , but I can not log in .
