I am trying to start X-Windows on an HP-UX server running HP-UX v11.11 and using Hummingbird Exceed v10. I get the error message:

Error: Can't open display: my pc's IP:0.0

The I.P. number of the HP-UX server just changed last weekend - would this have anything to do with my problem?

Mott Given
Hi,

yes, of course - you have to check the configuration file, there's the ip address of the server you want to connect to.

Volkmar
Shalom,

Few possible causes.

1) VLAN could have been implemented in the network blocking your access.

2) The DISPLAY variable may be hard coded in configuration files on the system.

You have correctly investigated and concluded the recent change is the most likely cause.

SEP
