chatr Cannot set/reset test rewrite flag

chatr +q3p enable partitions
chatr(error): cannot set/reset text rewrite flag for program - partitions

Any clues what the above mean? Is it due to missing patches? or kernel params settings? My server is HP-UX B.11.11 U 9000/800.

I found a similar thread, but can't find anything wrt the OS patches:

Why didn't you think that thread was the same issue?
You should get the latest ld patch, PHSS_35379 and try again.

Hmm, this error only seems to apply to +R, which you aren't using.

This error message can only occur for dead code that implements +R, something you can't specify. Do you have any long embedded paths?

Can you use this option on a trivial himom program?

I ran the 'chatr +q3p enable' command for the same binary at another HP server. I dun see "chatr(error): cannot set/reset text rewrite flag for program" error. Hence, I reckon nothing to do with the program.

FYI, the chatr cmd failed after my colleague installed some patches which are necessary for our application. Below are the patches installed on the box. Let me know if you spot any suspicious patches that conflicting/lead to the error.

It could be related to the combination chatr and the program. That's why I wanted you to use chatr on that system, on another trivial executable.

That only would be PHSS_35379 and you said that it failed before you installed it.

So if you want to wait until next week, there should be a replacement for PHSS_35379. And if it doesn't fix it, contact the Response Center.

I've no choice now. I will wait for the replacement patch before I contact the Response Center. Please help inform me when the replacement patch is available, or point me to where I can register myself for email notification wrt this patch.

Patch PHSS_35381 has now been applied to my server. This patch seemed to
complete OK, without the error message we saw previously.
