Hi,
We have a plan to purchase a new HP9000 entry level server something like rp 3410. But our requirements are
1) Processor must be PA-RISC family
2) OS Kernel Width 32
3) Must install ANCI C complier 32 bit
4) Should be able to build 32 bit application

Which server (Hardware) satisfy these requirements?

Appriciates a quick response.

Vinod
Any new machine will be a 64-bit machine with 64-bit kernel and applications.

However, even if it is all 64-bit you can still build applications that are 32-bit and you can still run applications that are 32-bit.

The newest server to satisfy _all_ of those requirements would be something using the now ancient PA-8200 CPU as that was the last PA-RISC CPU on which HP supported a 32-bit kernel.

On PA-8500 and later, only a 64-bit kernel is supported, and I suspect only 64-bit kernel will "work"

Apart from that, the rp3410 would meet requirements 1, 3 and 4. I'm not sure why you have requirement 3 - whether the HP compilers are 32 or 64 bit themselves, they can still generate 32-bit code.

Given that HP-UX first started shipping a 64-bit kernel in November of 1997, and that the PA-8500 has only supported a 64-bit kernel on 11i going back to "the beginning" of the PA-8500, it is certainly high time by now that anyone with kernel components have them 64-bit ready.
