topic DNS Setup in Operating System - HP-UX

DNS Setup

I'm looking for info on how to setup DNS on our HPUX 10.2 server. I'm hoping
for a step-by-step howto, as I am fairly new to UNIX.

I have looked around the HP site, as well as done more than a few searches. I
have come up dry. Most articles focused on a bunch of patches, and problems
with DNS that are resolved by applying these patches. Nothing on how to setup
DNS from scratch.

If someone could either provide me with an article number, or where I could
look for info, it would be much appreciated.

Hi,

I suggest you go look at the following location for good info on DNS:

http://docs.hp.com

Select By Release,
click on HP-UX 10.X Release Documentation

then click on
Networking & Communications

Select the manual:
"Internet Services, Installing and Administering for HP-UX 10.20"

chapter 4:
4. Configuring and Administering the BIND Name Service

Be sure to check the latest CERT advisory on BIND vulnerabilities. Depending on
whether you use BIND 4.9.7 or 8.1.2 (on 11.x) you might need to upgrade your
BIND!
