I have seen this problem occur when a network card/driver is first initialized
on a system but does not have full connectivity. If that is what you are
experiencing, an easy work around is to modify /etc/hosts so that the systems
hostname resolves to 127.0.0.1

This will allow swinstall to initialize and run. Just remember to set it back
when it's time to connect to the network. Also, recycle swagentd after making
the change. (swagentd -r)

Morning All,

I have been rebuilding a system, which, when done I will be using make_recovery
to produce a tape to upgrade identical workstations.

Yesterday, I installed HP-UX 10.20, Ignite, and various patches. I came in
today to continue installing patches with no luck.

Going into "SAM" , "SW Mgr", "Install SW to local host", the window pops up
"Select target path", / is the target, hit "OK" and an error box comes up
"HOSTNAME:/ Failed to initialize this agent. Make sure the agent program exists
on the host and can be executed."

When the station boots up, a couple items don't start, but I think they are
related, do to the fact that they showed up prior to this. But they were
Failed: NCS Broker
Failed Audio Server

The last patch I installed prior to this was PHKL_16750, which required a
kernal change and reboot. The kernal built and the system rebooted fine. I did
not try to do any installs yesterday, so today was the first attempt.

Thanks for any help here.
