Whoa!!!! put on the brakes!!

Sorry about the last post; No coffee yet.

The -a option you have used is not complete. The syntax is -a <ARCHIVE_SERVER>:archive_dir.

So if stp_back is your archive server, it would be:

# make_net_recovery -s stp_back -a stp_back:/omniback/stpuxdr -x inc_entire-vg00

Hope this helps

Chris
</ARCHIVE_SERVER>

Hi!

We have one Lclass server does not have a tape drive. I need to install quite a few patches. Before that I thought of making an ignite tape into another LCLASS SERVER using make_net_recovery.

This is the output I received. when I check ps -ef | grep ignite it is not consuming any CPU time and looks like it is hanging. This is the second time. Please see the command I used and the output

Thanks

Command I used:

make_net_recovery -s stp_back -a /omniback/stpuxdr -x inc_entire-vg00
------------------------------
Output:

* Creating NFS mount directories for configuration files.

======= 08/01/02 16:10:00 EDT Started make_net_recovery. (Thu Aug 01 16:10:00
EDT 2002)
@(#) Ignite-UX Revision B.3.7.96
@(#) net_recovery (opt) $Revision: 10.575.1.1 $

* Testing pax for needed patch
* Passed pax tests.
* Checking Versions of Recovery Tools
* Creating System Configuration.
* /opt/ignite/bin/save_config -f /var/opt/ignite/recovery/client_mnt/0x0
0306E03C930/recovery/2002-08-01,16:09/system_cfg vg00

This is where it sits.

The -a option is to specify tape drive, so no it is not correct. From the man pages on make_tape_recovery:

-s Ignite-UX_server
Specifies the hostname of the Ignite-UX server. The
configuration files, defaults and contents files for the
client system will be written to the Ignite-UX server in
/var/opt/ignite/clients/0x{LLA}/recovery. The
make_tape_recovery tool will NFS mount the per-client
directory to access this information.

Take out the -a and see what happens.

Chris
