I am new to HP Open View and taking up
where someone left off.

Does Openview have something called trapif ?
What I am looking for is where Openview
writes SMNP information that a user could then read
and use for their own application.

Any help is appreciated.

HP NNM generates traps. The configuration is done in Options->Event
Configuration. These events can also be configured to execute external
commands.

Custom events can be configured with Options->Data Collection & Thresholds.
