Does anyone know why I cannot get Sybase 11 to address more than 1GB of shared
memory even though I have set shmmax to 2GB, shmmni and shmseg to 512.

Hi, attached is some info about the maximum sharable
memory for a 32 bit Sybase and system which I think is what you have. This
also applies if your OS is 64bits.
I think the only way to get a single memory segment bigger than 1GB is to
upgrade to 64bits Sybase1200 and
run it on a 64bit OS system.

Note: "Even with shmem_magic executables, a single shared memory segment must
be contained completely in one quadrant, so 1 GB is still the maximum size of a
single shared memory segment."
