Greetings,

I have installed the "HPUX 11.0 Support Tools Bundle" on a K server running
HP-UX 11.

Somehow, this bundle has some filesets which were not configured (state
installed):

# swlist -l fileset -a state OnlineDiag
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "prcc64"...
#
# Target: prcc64:/
#

# OnlineDiag
# OnlineDiag.Sup-Tool-Mgr
OnlineDiag.Sup-Tool-Mgr.RELEASE-NOTES configured
OnlineDiag.Sup-Tool-Mgr.STM-CATALOGS configured
OnlineDiag.Sup-Tool-Mgr.STM-MAN configured
OnlineDiag.Sup-Tool-Mgr.STM-SHLIBS configured
OnlineDiag.Sup-Tool-Mgr.STM-UI-RUN configured
OnlineDiag.Sup-Tool-Mgr.STM-UUT-RUN configured
# OnlineDiag.LIF-LOAD
OnlineDiag.LIF-LOAD.LIF-LOAD-MIN configured
OnlineDiag.LIF-LOAD.LIF-LOAD-NOTES configured
# OnlineDiag.Contrib-Tools
OnlineDiag.Contrib-Tools.PDCINFO configured
OnlineDiag.Contrib-Tools.PIMTOOL configured
# OnlineDiag.Predictive
OnlineDiag.Predictive.PREDICTIVE-MAN configured
OnlineDiag.Predictive.PREDICTIVE-RUN installed
# OnlineDiag.EMS-Config
OnlineDiag.EMS-Config.EMS-GUI configured
# OnlineDiag.EMS-Core
OnlineDiag.EMS-Core.EMS-CORE configured
# OnlineDiag.EMS-KRMonitor
OnlineDiag.EMS-KRMonitor.KRMON-DRV-CMN configured
OnlineDiag.EMS-KRMonitor.KRMON-DRV-DRV configured
OnlineDiag.EMS-KRMonitor.KRMON-MAN configured
OnlineDiag.EMS-KRMonitor.KRMON-RUN configured

Running "swconfig" again does not solve this.
Therefore at system startup, I get the following error in /etc/rc.log:

Starting hardware predictive
Output from "/sbin/rc2.d/S744predictive start":
----------------------------
/opt/pred/bin/psmond: Error: cannot access port services for psmond.
The /etc/services for psmond are:-

psmond 1788/tcp # Predictive Monitor
psmond 1788/udp # Hardware Predictive Monitor

It might be worth swremove'ing Onlinediag and reinstalling it. It doesn't require a reboot on 11.00 (it did on 10.20).

Regards,
John

If you are running NIS, you would need to have the services in the NIS map for /etc/services and have them pushed. It appears this is a client that is looking for the servicve, can't find it. This would be based on the nsswitch.conf as well. It is telling the system to look "there" first.

run swconfig *

this will configure the "installed" product.

then give Predictive a try.

I did get a notice from an HP CE that even though DIAGS on 11.00 does not require a reboot, patch PHKL_18543 (and its depends) requires a reboot. I believe the word I got was to install the patches first and then install the DIAGS
