Hi folks, I have a PC running Win2k with a CD-ROM (actually a DVD-ROM). I want to be able to mount this as a remote filesystem to a C110/9000 workstation running HP-UX 11.0.

Is this possible with some kind of entry in the /etc/fstab? or can I do this with something like samba?

Regards,
Ed.

You can do it through samba. Install the samba server software on windows system. Install the samba client on HP workstation. Share the cdrom folder in win system. You will be able to access the CDROM folder from hp workstation.

hi,

Yes you could do that with samba software. There are lot of threads in this forum about the same setup and configuration; do a search and you will be good to go.

Another same type of software is CIFS/9000, which is a priced product from HP and have more functions than samba. I never tried this on a workstation though.

hth
