xv Install

I tries to install binary xv in our HP-UX 11.0 in the following page.
http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/X11/Viewers/xv-3.10a/

But I cannot run xv excute file.
$ ./xv
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Can't open shared library: /opt/zlib/lib/libz.sl
/usr/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory
Abort (core dumped)

I was wondering why it fails.
Thank you for any help...

Hi,

I belive you don't have graphical
libraries installed.

Check for that library in your system's
ACE bundle.If it is not there
Install latest ACE.

I feel it is there in ACE9911.

You can use SAM to display the files in
the ACE bundle.

If you do a search for zlib on the same web site that you got xv from then you will find the downloadable.

zlib 1.1.3 is a general purpose data compression library.

install the files Pete suggests first before attempting to install XV !

I'd also read the readme doc that most probably comes with the XV files or avaialable off several web sites supplying this shareware :

see : http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/X11/Viewers/xv-3.10a/ and the dependencies link . : in summary ....

Requires jpeg and zlib libraries to be installed prior to compilation.

One last point this I'm sure has already been covered on this forum , did you try using the search facility top left ?

I have a statically linked version of xv which is just over 3Mb. With this binary you dont need any other libraries or to install anything else, just 1 file. If you would like a copy email me at Stefan_Farrelly@hotmail.com
