topic XIO errors in Operating System - HP-UX

I have encountered an XIO error when connecting to a HP-UX server using ReflectionX. After sometime even without any activities, I would receive the following error:-
XIO: fatal IO error 57 (Link severed) on X server "wsgjt028:0.0"
after 700 requests (699 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
I will be thrown out from the application but still connected to the server.

Please advise. Thanks.

One of the more likely causes could be network connectivity, however without more details it's difficult to say :

1.Whats the application & what does it do ? or are you just using Reflection to log into CDE or similar ?
2.Is the PC on the same subnet as the HP server ? Are routers or swithces involved ?
3.What's in $HOME/.dt/errorlogs, var/dt/Xerrors and your syslog ?
4. Has this always occurred or just started .. if so any changes on any of the kit or netwk involved ?
5. Maybe worth running landiag to check on netwk ?
6.Also worth checking the Display variable is se tcorrectly and hostname resolution between PC and HP server is working both ways :ip & hostname.

Also check reflectionX's log .... I suspect there may even be a trace facility you can turn on if the problem is reproduceable ?
Error 57 is an undocumented error which means there is an error in the TCP code in the kernel. You need to install/update your patches on your HP server to fix, I think its the latest ARPA patch you will need, but you should also add the latest X11 patches.
