Hp 11.0 will work fine with most periferals, and once upgraded it will still run 32 bit applications. Upgrade the HP first, the rest of the applications should be able to be changed at a comfortable pace with few troubles.

We are using HP-UX 10.20, Oracle 7.3.4, SQL*Forms 3.0 and have to move to HP-UX 11, Oracle 8, SQL*Forms 6.0, ESRI ArcSDE.
We are wondering:
- HP-UX 32 or 64-bit
- Oracle 8 32 or 64-bit
- will ArcSDE work fine at 11 64-bit?
- our application 32 or 64-bit.
We are considering factors like:
- system requirements (memory, disk, file system sizes..)
- performance
- devices support (will all our peripherals work at 11 64-bit?)
- is it easy to transition between 32 an 64-bit versions?
I would appreciate any comment, suggestion, experience, documentation source.
Thanks a lot.

I assume as you are considering it that the CPU will support 64-bit.

Oracle and HP-UX will work happily in 64 bit mode so the decider on this one is will the application run? This can be determined by consulting the supplier or testing it. If everything runs, I don't think there are any disadvantages of 64-bit over 32-bit.

The Oracle and ArcSDE will work fine at 64 bit. We are doing it with a K460 and 1 GB memory and about 18GB total disk space right now. Of course your environment will determine your resources.
