Using the Dec. 2005 Mission Critical OE I have finally managed to get the installer going.

Powering on the blade and letting the installer start automatically failed with the error from my last post.

I decided to interrupt the auto install and try to start the installer manually. After a "boot IINSTALL" the installation began and it seems to be going just fine.

I still have the one other blade to try this out on. I will post my results once I am finished.

Marius

Hello all,
I am trying to install HP-UX on an HP BL60p blade but am unable to continue past the section where it asks for the index to my boot device. I do not see it in the list. Below is the screen where it asks for the information.

Is there anyway to pass the right path to the install kernel?

Many thanks.

index HW-path Class description
0) 0/1/1/0 ext_bus Ultra320_Wide_LVD_SCSI
1) 0/1/1/0.0.0 disk COMPAQ_BF0368A4B9
2) 0/1/1/0.1.0 disk COMPAQ_BF0368A4B9
3) 0/0/1/0 usb NEC_USB_Interface
4) 0/0/1/1 usb NEC_USB_Interface
5) 0/0/1/2 usb NEC_USB_Interface
6) 120 processor Processor

Enter the index corresponding to the device to use
as the installation source, or 'q' to reboot:

From the question it is asking for the source (I suppose the install media). I have tried selecting all in the list.

If I select any of the 2 disks (index 1, 2) it fails with the following errors:

* Checking configuration for consistency...
ERROR: parser cannot open file: /var/opt/ignite/INDEX: No such file or
directory (errno = 2)
ERROR: net_cfg_prep: Problems were encountered while parsing configuration
file: "/var/opt/ignite/INDEX". See the messages above for details.
Using instl_adm with the -T and/or -D options on the server may help
isolate the problem. (See instl_adm(1M) and instl_adm(4) man pages.)

* Loading configuration user interface, please wait...
ERROR: Tar: blocksize = 0; broken pipe?
ERROR: File: /usr/ccs not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/obam not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/nls not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/hpux32/aries32.so not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/hpux32/pa_boot32.so not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/libdld.2 not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/dld.sl not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/libc.2 not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/hpux32/libCsup.so.1 not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/hpux32/libCsup.so not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/hpux32/libstd.so.1 not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/hpux32/libstream.so.1 not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/hpux32/libunwind.so.1 not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/hpux32/libuca.so.1 not found.
ERROR: File: /usr/lib/hpux32/libm.so.1 not found.
ERROR: File: /opt/ignite/bin not found.
ERROR: File: /opt/ignite/ui not found.
ERROR: File: /opt/ignite/help not found.
loadfile command failed, retry? ([y]/n):

So it is for some reason looking for the installation media which does not appear in my list above.
Hi all,

I am still having problems installing HP-UX. The system is a bl60p and it seems to require a media kit that is at least from march 2005. I have one from december 2005 so this should not be a problem.

I am however now getting the following error:

HP-UX Boot Loader for IPF -- Revision 2.026

Press Any Key to interrupt Autoboot
AUTO ==> boot :IINSTALL
Seconds left till autoboot - 0
AUTOBOOTING...> System Memory = 4076 MB
loading section 0
............................................................
I believe in the end that it was the USB CD-ROM. The problem still boggles me a little since even with a new CD-ROM on my first attempt to boot it behaved the same way. I even tried on a different (identical) server and I had to reboot several times before it actually booted from the cd.

Marius
