Scott,

How did you configure the Printer Configuration? Did you use SAM? (I recommend it!)

Also, check for outstanding Microsoft Service Packs for NT.

Happy Thanksgiving!
I have an HP 9000 server that has an NT print server connected the requests are sent from the HP serfver to the NT print server, which then sends the request to the printer. This works fine, however it prints multiple copies. i think this is becuase some sort of confirmation of the print is sent from the printer to the Nt server, but this confirmation isnt passed onto the HP server, this means it doesnt realise that the request has been printed and sends the request again and again!!!! Am I on the right line of thinking and if so how do I get the Nt server to pass the confirmation back to the HP server ?????

Hi Scott,

You need the LPR service on the NT box.

Set up the printer as remote on a remote print server (with SAM it's pretty easy).

The following Microsoft documents might help as well:

'How to configure Windows NT for LPR printing'
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q195/6/43.asp

'Setting up print servers'
http://www.microsoft.com/TechNet/winnt/Winntas/manuals/concept/xcp05.asp

Best regards,

Dan
