    <description>Hello Joanne,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;there is not really a recommended timeframe for a reboot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It probably doesn't hurt to get on a regular schedule, but it is not necessary.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you have a feeling, that the system is eating up more resources then it might be a good time to reboot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can always check with the following commands if a reboot would "make a difference":&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1) ps -ef &lt;BR /&gt;   ckeck for zombie process&lt;BR /&gt;2) who -a&lt;BR /&gt;   check if old logins are still sitting there&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Of course there is always maintenance which needs to be done. By having a window of maintenance and reboot those changes can be scheduled, eg. patching, lvm changes, filesystem changes, etc.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Hope that helped a bit,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Steffi JOnes</description>

      <description>I'm relatively new to the unix environment and have heard conflicting comments about how often the system(s) require rebooting to maintain/increase performance.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What is the recommended time period, why, and where is it documented?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any advice will be appreciated.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
