    <description>Thanks, I think it is a dodgy drive, i have tried cleaning it several times, and it works fine on another machine with a different dlt drive.....thanks again!!!!!!</description>

      <description>I am running:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;make_recovery -A -v -d /dev/rmt/0mn&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and as it tries to right he LIF to the tape it fails with the following error.....&lt;BR /&gt; make_recovery(472): /usr/bin/dd failed,res=512,errno=0&lt;BR /&gt;        Cleanup&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Can anyone tell me what this means please, I assume dd is failing but dont know why ????</description>

      <description>most usually this is a bad tape or tape drive.  can be that the tape drive needs cleaning.  also can be the corrupt device files.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;test yourself using a normal dd on the command line to that tape.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;also could be patch issue where you need scsi patches. check for latest ones on the patch database here. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Jon</description>

      <description>For what I can tell, it looks like either bad media or a problem with your device files.  Call #AA5745602 recommends the following:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You are getting this error because you either have a defective media,&lt;BR /&gt;or a defective tape device.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Use these steps to isolate your problem:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;     A. Verify the 'dmesg' entry.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;     B. Execute the 'insf -e' command.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;     C. Use a new 120 meter tape.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;     D. Execute the 'dd if=/dev/dsk/c.. of=/dev/null bs=1024k' command.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Hope this helps.</description>
