Hi everybody

I bought myself HP C3600 Visualize workstation and i will use it for CAD/CAM.

So here are my questions:

1. I ordered free HP-UX 11i v1 media kit and licence from HP.
What i got was 4CDs of HP-UX 11i v1 Mission Critical OE (September 2005) and HP-UX 11i version 1: Application software: HP Visualize and HP 9000 Enterprise servers (June 2006) 4CDs and one DVD.

I installed HP-UX 11i v1 on C3600 but i don't know which OE was installed if i do:
# swlist | grep -i oe
#
It shows nothing.
In installation program i can't select any OE. It just shows HP-UX Basic OS 64-bit.

2. After installation system load is strange HIGH. The system is doing nothing but load is:

# w
9:13pm up 23 mins, 2 users, load average: 3.83, 4.04, 3.27

System: saturn Wed Sep 6 21:13:27 2006
Load averages: 3.84, 4.02, 3.29
86 processes: 79 sleeping, 7 running
Cpu states:
LOAD USER NICE SYS IDLE BLOCK SWAIT INTR SSYS
3.84 0.2% 0.0% 0.0% 99.8% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0%

Memory: 102204K (67244K) real, 356836K (278456K) virtual, 2030100K free Page# 1
/7

What could be wrong? :-(

Thanks for answers
Shalom,

The high load factor issue, if it even comes form HP OS or add in software is probably because your system is not patched properly.

I recommend the latest bi-annual patch package for your OS.

Also note that load factor may not be a problem at all unless there is an actual user response issue.

For more on performance tuning:
http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/search.do?searchString=UPERFKBAN00000726&docType=Security&docType=Patch&docType=EngineerNotes&docType=BugReports&docType=Hardware&docType=ReferenceMaterials&docType=ThirdParty&hpweb_printable=true&searchCrit=allwords&search.x=28&admit=-1335382922+1157656691296+28353475&mode=id&category=c0&search.y=8

SEP
