Hi all,

I just want to know if there is any "safe way" to stop the runnning fsadm defragementation process? By just Ctrl+C or else? Also anyone know how to check out the defrag. status of the filesystem, I mean how to determine when it end?

Bgds,
Gordon

Not sure of exactly whether this will report exactly what your after, but there is an example in the man page 'fsadm_vxfs'

fsadm -E [-l largesize] [-r rawdev] mount_point

I don't think using control-C will do any damage other than to stop the de-frag at a perhaps unknown point. You will need to run it again from the start.

I think this may be safer:
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
#ps -ef |grep fsadm
#kill -15 PID_of_fsadm
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
-15 parameter will let the process terminate after concerned I/O operations are completed.

-Gerald-
